Secure E-Mail Communication

In normal practice, e-mail communication is not secure, as content may be intercepted or even changed without the recipient’s knowledge. Therefore, email may be difficult to use as legal evidence.

However, digital certificates may be used to protect the data integrity of e-mails as well as their non-repudiation. This security applies to both the message as well as attachments (such as Word, Excel, PDF, etc.).

In addition to signing, the user may use encryption to protect the privacy of the e-mail. Using asymmetric encryption, the sender and the recipient can have confidence that their communications are confidential.

Depending on customer requirements and safety standards, the signing and encrypting actions may take place at the individual computer desktop, or at a corporate e-mail gateway.

Most mail systems support sign and encrypt out-of-the-box. The following solutions have been tested as compatible with QuoVadis certificates and are supported by us:

  • Signature service from PrivaSphere More
  • SEPPmail from ZOE-One
  • Totemo E-Mail Gateway More
