Qualified Personal Certificates

The Qualified Personal Certificate meets the highest standards of the Swiss Signature Act (ZertES) and the European standard (ETSI). It allows the creation of legally binding signatures (according to the Swiss Code of Obligations) and may only be used for signing. The Qualified Personal Certificate is a part of the SuisseID or can be ordered separately.

Qualified certificates may only be issued to natural persons. There is the possibility to request, in addition to the name of the organization (company, company, association, association, etc.), an organizational unit or function of the certificate holder. It is also possible to use a pseudonym instead of the name of the Certificate Holder.

The issuing of Qualified Certificates is based on recognized know-your-client standards. Registration requires the proof of identity of the Certificate Holder through SBB Change/Western Union office, a mobilezone store, a local government, the Swiss Post "Yellow Identification" or by a notary.

The electronic certificate and the corresponding personal key must be stored on a Secure Signature Creation Device (certified to EAL4 + standard ISO / IEC 15408 or ITSEC E3 high). The standard term of the certificate is 3 years.
