Qualified Personal Certificates
The Qualified Personal Certificate meets the highest standards of the Swiss Signature Act (ZertES) and the European standard (ETSI). It allows the creation of legally binding signatures (according to the Swiss Code of Obligations) and may only be used for signing.
Qualified certificates may only be issued to natural persons. There is the possibility to request, in addition to the name of the organization (company, company, association, association, etc.), an organizational unit or function of the certificate holder. It is also possible to use a pseudonym instead of the name of the Certificate Holder.
Qualified Certificates may only be issued by QuoVadis Registration Authorities (RAs) based on recognized know-your-client standards. Registration requires either the personal appearance of the Certificate Holder at the RA, or a notary certification of an application by a notary.
The electronic certificate and the corresponding personal key must be stored on a Secure Signature Creation Device (certified to EAL4 + standard ISO / IEC 15408 or ITSEC E3 high). The standard term of the certificate is 3 years.
The issuance of the Qualified Certificate requires the following documents:
For private individuals (excluding corporate details):
- Completed and signed application form
- Copy of passport or ID of the applicant
- Certification of the certificate application and attached documents
For certificates with company registration or using corporate e-mail addresses:
- Completed and signed application form
- Copy of passport or ID of the applicant
- Certification of the certificate application
- Copy of passport or ID of the Authorising Person
